We're just back from Kilkenny. Gerard and I went for 2 nights to celebrate Gerard turning 40 (which he did 2 weeks ago). We brought Rory as felt he was too small to leave and I'm so glad we did. I missed the other boys so much. Can't see us going away alone again for a long time - feel like I missed out on so much with them not being with us.

I went to Cushendale Woollen Mills and picked up 4 hanks each of a heathery-blue and a nice red of their aran weight wool.

I also picked up a cute little creation which they call a sheep-dog :D

About time I updated my news here :)

Santa will have come and gone by this time next week. The black sacks will be overflowing with used toy boxes, wrapping paper, cable ties - all ready for dumping

But there'll be four happy little men here and it'll be another gorgeous memory to keep locked up in my memory vault :)

We went to http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-florencecourtw-florencecourt last week to see Santa in his Irish home. The boys loved it. The scene was beautifully set

and we had a lovely time. There were some craft stalls too - which I had to support of course :)

Heading for the Hills

Well it's that time of year again. Brittas time!!! We're heading to Brittas on Thursday morning and from there going to Legoland next week. May be home briefly for a day or two at the end of July but more or less Wicklow direction until the end of August. I'll be internet-less. Yikes!! I'm sure my knitting addiction will keep me sane.

Have been knitting cotton hoodies for the two small boys (will have to get something done soon for the big boys) as shown above and have to do one for my little nephew now too.
Have lots of packing and sorting to do so will update later when I have a bit more time :)

Top Down Sweaters :)

I really enjoyed the class on Top Down Sweaters in This is Knit on Saturday :) I finished the baby cardi from it and gave it to my cute 7 week old nephew who looked very cute in it. :)

Thanks a million to Lisa and Aileen for all the help!
On a different note, I won the WWKiP contest on the Dublin Knit Collective!!! Yay!!

WWKiP Day 2008

I unfortunately went out camera-less on WWKiP Day on Jun 14, 2008 but seeing as I was supposed to bring two of my four small boys with me and I did remember to bring them a camera was a luxury item :)

This is how one non-metropolised Irish knitter celebrated. I brought my two big boys (5 years old) to “The Crafter’s Basket” in Sligo where we had yummy sandwiches and cake and bought a few small bits.

We then headed home via Enniskillen (the Asda shopping had to be done :) ) and stopped off to view Glencar Waterfall on the way. It was their first time to see a waterfall and they were entranced. They were thrilled too to be able to save a snail from almost-certain-doom when they moved him from the middle of the concrete path up to the waterfall and placed him safely in the grass :)

I then sat on a nice bench in the green area near the waterfall, and knitted for a while of course, my two snail-savers ran and raced.

They slept on the way home :)

I toyed with the idea of bringing them to Dublin on the train to meet the Dublin gang in St. Stephen’s Green but thought it was too adventurous and too much to expect them to sit for hours while I knitted. Plus, I was afraid it would rain :)
